Ord 052-2003 6/3/2003ORDINANCE NO. Sa-O3 ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO USE $12,060.00 FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT FORFEITURE FUND TO PURCHASE AN AUDIO UPGRADE PACKAGE FOR 36 VIDEO CAMERA UNITS DISTRIBUTED BY THE STATE OF TEXAS AS PROVIDED IN SENATE BILL 1074 -- RACIAL PROFILING AND AUTHORIZING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO PURCHASE AN UPGRADE TO THE IMAGING SYSTEM TO ALLOW FOR THE STORAGE OF 150,000 COPIES PER MONTH ALSO FROM FORFEITED FUNDS; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW. WHEREAS, in July and at no cost to the City, the Wichita Falls Police Department will receive 36 mobile video units provided by the State of Texas as part of Texas Senate BIII 1074 -- Racial Profiling provisions; and WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Police Department wishes to upgrade the camera units by purchasing an additional audio package for each camera unit to reproduce the best sound quality and to prevent interference from other camera units; and WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Police Department wishes to upgrade the department's imaging system to increase the capability of the system to handle 150,000 copies per month; and WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Police Department will use forfeited funds in the amount of $335.00 per unit for a total cost of $12,060.00 and forfeited funds in the amount of $5,236.00 for the imaging system upgrade bringing the total expenditure to $17,296.00. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The Wichita Falls Police Department is hereby authorized to purchase an Audio Package upgrade expending forfeited funds in the amount of $335.00 per unit for an expenditure of $12,060.00 and is hereby authorized to purchase an imaging system upgrade for an expenditure of $5,236.00. The total expenditure from police department forfeited funds will be $17,296.00. ' SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law. PASSED AND APPROVED this the 3rd day of June, 2003.
