ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 26 OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES, BUSINESS REGULATIONS AT SECTION 26 -94,
INCREASING FEES FOR SOLICITOR PERMITS, AND SECTION 26 -93
DELETING THE BANK REFERENCE LETTER; FINDING AND
DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE
WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the solicitor permit fee has been the same since its inception in
1979; and
WHEREAS, the number of solicitors have increased over the years in addition to
cost increases in materials; and
WHEREAS, the current fees assessed for solicitor permits are not sufficient to
offset administrative costs to process these permits, and disparity exists in the cost to
one solicitor vs. more than one solicitor on a single application, and
WHEREAS, the requirement for a bank reference letter has no purpose in the
soliciting process.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Chapter 26 of the Code of Ordinances, Business Regulations,
Section 26 -94 Fees, is hereby amended to read as follows:
Each applicant for a solicitor permit shall be charged a fee of one hundred
dollars ($100.00). If the applicant is other than an individual, the applicant will be
charged an additional fee of ten dollars ($10.00) for each employee working as a
solicitor under the permit. All permits shall expire on the last day of the month
one year from issuance.
SECTION 2. Chapter 26 of the Code of Ordinances, Business Regulations,
Section 26 -93 (4) is hereby amended to read as follows:
A reference letter or report from the Better Business Bureau or Chamber of
Commerce of the city in which the applicant resides or the business is located.
SECTION 3. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
