Ord 1847 10/12/1959ORDINANCE N0. 1847 AN ORDINANCE LEVYING, ASSESSING AND FIXING THE TAX RATE FOR THE USE AND SUPPORT OF THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, AND PRO- VIDING FOR THE VYY OR THE SSPEECIFFICTPURPOSE AND PROVIDINFISCAL OR MAR THE lASSESSMENT OF AIL AND APPOR- TIONING EACH LE ANNUAL OCCUPATIONAL TAXES PROVIDED BY LAW. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That there be assessed., levied and collected on all taxable property in the City of Wichita Falls for the year 1959 the following, t $ .60 on each $100.00 assessed valuation of all taxable property in the City for the maintenance and support of the General Government, including current ex- penses and general improvements of said City and its property known as the General Fund. $ .30 on each $100.00 assessed valuation of all taxable property in the City for -the purpose of laying out, opening, and constructing, and repairing imp ro vkng the roads, bridges, and streets within the limits of said City, known as the Street Fund. $ .20 on each $100.00 assessed valuation of all taxable property in the City for current expenses in maintaining, improving and beautifying public parks and maintaining and improving public playgrounds., known as the Park Fund. $ .05 on each $100.00 assessed valuation of all taxable property for current expenses for the purpose of establishing, providing., maintaining and operating within said City, a public library or libraries, known as the Library Fund. $ .71 on each $100.00 assessed valuation of all taxable property for the purpose of paying interest and principal for the redemption of bonds heretofore legally issued by said City, known as the Interest and Redemption Fund. RECAPITULATION OF RATE $1.15 for General Operating Fund s for Interest and Redemption Rund $1. Total levy for 1959 - $1.86 for $100.00 assessed valuation of all taxable property in the City. SECTION 2. There is also levied an Occupation Tax on every person, firm or corporation pursuing any of the occupations named in tjxe Charter, Ordinances, and the General Laws of Texas, which shall be paid in advance, said occupation license to be one -half of the State license for similar occupations. SECTION 3. The im aediate need to continue the normal operations of the business of the City creates an emergency and in order to protect the public health, welfare and to preserve the peace, this Ordinance shall take effect immediately, and it is so ordained.
