Ord 3-85 1/2/1985 ORDINANCE NO. d& ORDINANCE EXTENDING ORDINANCE NO. 83-84, WHICH WAIVED SECTIONS 31-51 , 31-54 AND 31-55 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, REQUIR- ING TAXIMETERS IN VEHICLES FOR HIRE, AND SECTION 31-47, REQUIRING CHAUFFEUR-DRIVEN VEHICLES FOR HIRE TO BE PLAINLY MARKED, CONCERNING LIMOUSINE SERVICE BY STEVE KNUDSEN AND MICHAEL F. GRIFFITH. WHEREAS, on July 17, 1984, the City Council enacted Ordinance No. 83-84, waiving certain ordinances insofar as they affected limousine service by Steve Knudsen and Michael F. Griffith; such ordinances would have required the limousines to have taximeters, and would have required the vehicles to be plainly marked; and, WHEREAS, such ordinance was to remain in effect only until January 1 , 1985, by which time it was anticipated that a new ordinance regulating limousines would be completed; and, WHEREAS, such ordinance has not been completed, and the City Council finds that the circumstances involved in this situation are exceptional , and that such waivers should be extended. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: Ordinance No. 83-84, which waived Sections 31-51 , 31-54, and 31-55 of the Code of Ordinances, requiring and regulating the use of taximeters in all Chauffeur-driven vehicles for hire, and Section 31-47, requiring chauffeur- driven vehicles for hire to be plainly marked, to allow Steve Knudsen and Michael F. Griffith to offer limousine service without markings on their vehicles and without the installation of taximeters , is hereby extended until July 1 , 1985. 2 This ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure, and it shall become effective immediately upon it passage.
