ORDINANCE WAIVING SECTIONS 4-15, 22-1 , AND 22-4
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES TO ALLOW SALE, POSSES-
SION AND CONSUMPTION OF BEER, AND PLACING OF
BANNERS, IN LUCY PARK FOR ANNUAL "CHICANO DAY
AT THE PARK" .
WHEREAS, the American G. I . Forum and Budweiser Distributors
sponsor an annual "Chicano Day at the Park" at Lucy Park, which
gives all the members of the Hispanic community an opportunity to
show off their rich and colorful Spanish culture ; further, the
project generates funds for their scholarship foundation, which
this year will award 13 scholarships from the revenues made off
of the event last year; and,
WHEREAS, they plan to hold this event this year on Sunday,
September 8 , 1985, from 8 :00 o 'clock a .m. to 9 :00 o 'clock p.m.
in Lucy Park, and they have requested that the City Council waive
the requirements of Sections 4-15 , 22-1 and 22-4 of the Code of
Ordinances in order that beer may be sold, possessed and consumed
in the park on that day, and that banners with the Budweiser
logo may be placed in the park that day; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the circumstances
involved in this request are unusual, and that the waiving of
such ordinances will contribute to the success of the event and
the raising of funds for their scholarship foundation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
Sections 4-15, 22-1 and 22-4 of the Code of Ordinances are
hereby waived to allow the sale, possession and consumption of
beer, and the placing of banners with the Budweiser logo, in Lucy
Park on Sunday, September 8, 1985, from 8 :00 o 'clock a .m. to
9 : 00 o 'clock p .m. by the American G. I . Forum and Budweiser
Distributors, sponsors of the "Chicano Day at the Park" .
