RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR
$260,000 IN GRANT FUNDS FROM THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT AGENCY/UNITED STATES FIRE ADMINISTRATION
ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTER GRANT PROGRAM TOWARD THE
PURCHASE OF A HEAVY RESCUE APPARATUS FOR THE WICHITA
FALLS FIRE DEPARTMENT; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE
MEETING AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN
TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the current rescue is more than twenty years old, is underpowered,
can only carry two personnel, and does not have adequate storage capabilities, and;
WHEREAS, the rescue must also carry much of the equipment used by the
Hazardous Materials Response Team, and;
WHEREAS, the need for rescue and hazardous materials mitigation equipment
has become increasingly more necessary to the Wichita Falls Fire Department, and;
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Fire Department is part of an eleven-county
regional mutual aid agreement, and subject to response anywhere in the region, and;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to apply for grant funding
from the Federal Emergency Management Agency/United States Fire Administration
Assistance to Firefighter Grants Program for the purchase of a Heavy Rescue
Apparatus for the Wichita Falls Fire Department.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
