RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF SOUTHERN HILLS
PARK AND A 8.847 ACRE TRACT OUT OF SCOTLAND PARK TO THE
WICHITA FALLS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF NEW SCHOOLS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS; FINDING
AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS
RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS
REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls is the owner of Southern Hills and Scotland
Park; and,
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Independent School District desires to construct a new
elementary school on property located in each park; and,
WHEREAS, the construction of such schools is a proper public purpose and will
serve and promote the interests of the City of Wichita Falls and its citizens; and,
WHEREAS, each tract has been appraised, and the City will receive fair market
value for such parcels.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Council hereby authorizes the sale of Southern Hills Park and
a 8.847 acre tract of land out of Scotland Park to the Wichita Falls Independent School
District for the construction of two new elementary schools.
SECTION 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the necessary legal
documents for the sale of both parcels, upon receipt of consideration from the Wichita Falls
Independent School District in an amount equal to the fair market value of the properties.
SECTION 3. It is hereby o�cially found and determined that the meeting at which
this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
