RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO REIMBURSE
THE WFISD FOR ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES FOR THE DESIGN OF
A LARGER GYMNASIUM AT THE NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN
SCOTLAND PARK AND AT THE JEFFERSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL;
AND MAKING BUDGETARY APPROPRIATIONS IN THE GENERAL
FUND FOR THESE DESIGN SERVICES; FINDING AND DETERMINING
THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED
WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, it is desirable to provide the best recreational benefits possible for
the public; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to take advantage of opportunities to provide cost
effective recreational services; and
WHEREAS, the WFISD is constructing elementary school gymnasiums, is willing
to enter into a joint agreement for the construction of adult size gymnasiums at the
Scotland Park site and the Jefferson Elementary School with the understanding the City
retains control of gymnasium use generally in the evening, weekends, and in the
summer, and that the City will pay the difference in cost for the adult size gymnasiums,
and
WHEREAS, architectural services for this additional design work is estimated to
cost approximately $45,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to reimburse the WFISD for
architectural services for the design of a larger gymnasium at the new elementary
school in Scotland Park and at the Jefferson Elementary School.
SECTION 2. The amount of $65,000 is hereby appropriated from General Fund
reserves for the cost of the design work.
SECTION 3. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
