RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, PROVIDING 30 DAYS NOTICE TO TERMINATE A
LEASE WITH THE SOUTHSIDE NEIGHBORHOOD ACTION GROUP;
FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS
RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS
REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City currently leases a building and improvements commonly
referred to as the Southside Community Center to the Southside Neighborhood Action
Group; and
WHEREAS, the lease provides that the lessee is responsible for all of the
operating costs for the facility; and
WHEREAS, the lessee has historically been unable to pay for the operating
costs of the facility and annually has received funding from the City for the cost of
building insurance, utilities, building security, and grounds maintenance; and
WHEREAS, recent activity reports indicate that the facility is rarely used by the
Neighborhood Action Group; and
WHEREAS, the Work Services Corporation has indicated a willingness to
purchase the building and improvements in their linen folding operation; and
WHERAS, the City Council desires to sell the building and improvements to the
Work Services Corporation; and
WHEREAS, the lease with the Southside Neighborhood Action Group requires a
30 day notice to terminate the lease.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City hereby executes its right to provide a 30 day notice to
terminate the lease agreement with the Southside Neighborhood Action Group.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
