RESOLUTION NO. _106-2011_
Resolution Authorizing The City Manager To Apply For A Texas
Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Coordinated Call For Projects
Grant In An Amount Of $2,104,000 For The Wichita Falls Travel Center
Project
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls (City) has identified the need for public
transportation infrastructure capital projects through City Council Strategic Planning and
Public Participation processes;
WHEREAS, the Downtown Travel Center was identified as a intermodal project
that will bring the Wichita Falls Transit System, regional bus providers and intercity bus
operations into the same facility to assist passengers moving from one mode of
transportation to another;
WHEREAS, the City expects the completed construction of the Downtown Travel
Center is estimated to cost $5,404,631, and to date has invested local and Federal
Transit Administration funds in the amount of $456,817 in the Center;
WHEREAS, the City has identified funding sources in the amount of $2,843,814
to complete local requirements for this project, which leaves $2,104,000 in intercity bus
funding needs to complete the Downtown Travel Center project;
WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation Coordinated Call for
Projects is a funding source for intercity bus facilities, and the City is formally applying
pursuant to the TxDOT Coordinated Call for Projects grant to obtain funding to complete
the Downtown Travel Center project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute all documents necessary to
pursue and apply for funding from the Texas Department of Transportation Coordinated
Call for Projects for construction of intercity bus facilities for the Downtown Travel
Center, as described above.
