Ordinance amending Ordinance 86-31 to remove from the Library
Board membership the ex officio position for the President of the
Friends of the Library and the City Manager
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Library has provided volunteer services at the
Library Book Store and returned generated revenue from this and other activities to the
City; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council added the ex officio position to the Library Board
for the President of the Friends of the Library due to their v olunteer work in the Book
Store and other activities; and,
WHEREAS the Library Book Store was remodeled in 2016 into a larger, multiuse
room, and removed the primarily volunteer activity of the Friends of the Library.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
Ordinance No. 86-31 is hereby amended to remove the ex officio position of
President of the Friends of the Library and the city manager from the Library Board
membership as follows:
Sec. 86-31. - Created; composition.
There is created and established a Library Advisory Board. This board shall be
composed of nine members, each of whom shall be a city resident and who shall serve
without pay. In addition, the library administrator , the city manager, and the president
of the Friends of the Library shall serve as a nonvoting ex officio members of the board.
