ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS,
TEXAS, APPROVING AND CONTINUING THE DECLARATION OF DISASTER
SIGNED ON JUNE 29, 2007, BY MAYOR LANHAM LYNE; DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH
THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED
BY LAW.
WHEREAS, as a result of excessive rainfall, portions of the City of Wichita Falls have
suffered significant flooding; and
WHEREAS, on June 29, 2007 Mayor Lanham Lyne .singed a Declaration Of Disaster
which included the mandatory evacuation of the certain residents; and
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls continues to suffer significant flooding which
includes the loss and damage to life and property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to Section 418.108 Of th2 TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE the City
Council approves the Declaration of Disaster as executed by Mayor Lanham Lyne on June 29,
2007, and continues same in effect for the period ending July 17, 2007 at 5:00 P.M.
SECTION 2. In the event Mayor Lyne determines the conditions which support this
Declaration Of Disaster no longer exist, he may terminate the Declaration before July 17, 2007
by written notification filed with the City Clerk.
SECTION 3. This ordinance is passed as an emergency measure and shall become
effective immediately upon its passage.
SECTION 4. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which this
ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
