ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT
$260,000 IN GRANT FUNDS FROM THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT AGENCY/UNITED STATES FIRE ADMINISTRATION-
ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTER GRANTS PROGRAM FOR A VEHICLE
ACQUISITION (RESCUE/HAZARDOUS-MATERIALS VEHICLE) FOR
THE WICHITA FALLS FIRE DEPARTMENT; FINDING AND
DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE
WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, State and Federal mandates are requiring more diverse response
capabilities from fire departments, and;
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Fire Department currently has a
Rescue/Hazardous Materials Vehicle, and;
WHEREAS, the current Rescue/Hazardous Materials Vehicle is a 1985 model
that is undersized and underpowered, and;
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Fire Department is subject to response to an
eleven county region, and:
WHEREAS, the purchase of a new Rescue/Hazardous Materials Vehicle will be
accomplished with a Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to accept grant funding from
the Federal Emergency Management Agency/United States Fire Administration -
Assistance to Firefighter Grants Program in the amount of $260,000 for the purchase of
a Rescue/Hazardous Materials Vehicle.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
