Resolution No. __76-2017_
Resolution amending Resolution No. 26-2017, which authorized the
City Manager to make application to the Office of the Governor,
Homeland Security Grant Program in the amount of $59,000.00, by
agreeing to return the funds in full in the event of loss or misuse;
designating the City Manager as the grantee’s authorized official;
and specifically identifying the Grant by number
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls has been notified that it is eligible to apply
for grant funding from th e Office of the Governor, Homeland Security Grant Program;
and,
WHEREAS, on February 21, 2017, the City Council of the City of Wichita Falls
passed and approved Resolution No. 26 -2017, which authorized the City Manager to
make application to the Office of the Governor, Homeland Security Grant Program, in
the amount of $59,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, upon submission of such application to the Governor’s Office, it was
requested that the City revise its application to include (1) assurances that in the event
of loss or misuse, the funds would be return ed to the Office of the Governor in full; (2) a
designation of the City Manager as the grantee’s authorized official; and (3) the specific
grant number; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to authorize the City Manager to submit an
application to obtain available funds in the amount of $59,000.00 from the Office of the
Governor, Homeland Security Grant Program; and,
WHEREAS, these funds are planned to be used to purchase Facial Recognition
Software to be used by the Department; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls agrees that in the event of loss or misuse
of the Office of the Governor funds, the funds will be returned to the Office of the
Governor in full; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls designates Darron Leiker, City Manager as
the grantee’s authorized official. The authorized official is given the power to apply for,
accept, reject, alter or terminate the grant on behalf of the applicant agency.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Manager is hereby authorized to apply for Homeland Security Grant
Program (Grant Number: 3373801) through the Office of the Governor, for funds in the
amount of $59,000.00.
