Ord 097-2007 11/6/2007 ORDINANCE NO. 97-2007 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, ACCEPTING GRANT FUNDS FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY, OFFICE OF DOMESTIC PROGRAM FOR THE 2007 HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT AND MAKING BUDGETARY APPROPRIATIONS IN THE SPECIAL REVENUE FUND OF THE CITY; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW. WHEREAS, the City has been notified that it has been awarded a total of $422,607.00 for the 2007 State Homeland Security Program and Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Program; and WHEREAS, $388,607 of the total grant has been identified to support the development of a Unified Mobile Command Post allowing for improved incident management capabilities by the police and fire department; and WHEREAS, $34,000 of the total grant has been identified to support the purchase of law enforcement night vision equipment and subsequent training — providing an increased service capability to the citizens by the police department. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The City hereby accepts the 2007 State Homeland Security Program and Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Program in the amount of $422,607 and appropriates said amount in the Special Revenue Fund of the City to account for these expenditures. SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
