Ordinance making an appropriation from the General Fund reserve in
the amount of $83,000 for damages and building repairs caused by a
malfunction of the fire suppression sprinkler system at the Wichita
Falls Public Library
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls incurred unexpected damages to the
Wichita Falls Public Library on February 28, 2017 from the malfunction of the fire
suppression system; and,
WHEREAS, since the damages are below the insurance deductible of $250,000
on the City’s building and content policy with Texas Municipal League, the City must
repair the damages without the benefit of insurance reimbursement; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls has incurred damages in the amount of
$83,000, and current budgeted funds are insufficient to make repairs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
An appropriation in the amount of $83,000 from the General Fund reserve is
hereby approved to provide funding for building repairs at the Wichita Falls Public
Library caused by a malfunction of the Library’s fire suppression system.
