ORDINANCE NO. 2-2008
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, RATIFYING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE
INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIREFIGHTERS LOCAL 432 FOR
THE CLASSIFICATION OF CERTAIN POSITIONS WITHIN THE FIRE
MARSHAL DIVISION OF THE WICHITA FALLS FIRE DEPARTMENT;
FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS
ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS
REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City Manager and representatives of Local 432 of the
International Association of Firefighters have agreed to the reclassification of certain
civilian positions within the Fire Marshal Division of the Wichita Fatls Fire Department;
and,
WHEREAS, Section 142.114 of the TExas LocA� GovERtvnnEtvT Co�E requires the
approval of the agreement by the Wichita Falls City Council and the members of Local
432, pursuant to a secret ballot election.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The Wichita Falls City Council hereby ratifies the agreement,
attached as Exhibit A, between the City of Wichita Falls and Local 432 of the
International Association of Firefighters, to reclassify certain civilian positions within the
Fire Marshal Division of the Wichita Falls Fire Department.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.

civilian positions affected by this Agreement include the Fire Marshal and Assistant Fire
Marshals. A 1=irc Dcpartmcnt employec who scrves in one of these positions is nat cequir�d to
take a competitivic examination tn remain in the employcc's position, if thc employce was
appointc�i ta that positinn before January 8, 20U8, the effeclive date uf' this Agreement, and the
City's governing body by ordinance amends thc City's existing classitication of Fire Depariment
empl�yees to include the employec's pasition, as provided by Section 143.021 of the TEx�►s
�.00AL CiU4`GRNMtNT CODE.
SECTION 3. EMPLOYF:� PENSION CON7'RIBl/TiON5 Under this a�reement, the aft'ected
employees w�ill continue to purticipate in the "Texa$ Municipal Retirem�ent System ('I'MRS). All
positions filled after January 08, 2008 will participate in the Wichita Falls l�iremen's Relief and
Retirement I�und.
