ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, AMENDING ARTICLE III, SOLICITORS, BY THE
ADDITION OF SECTION 26.65, SAFETY VEST REQUIRED; FINDING
AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS
ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS
REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City Council is concerned with the safety of its citizens; and,
WHEREAS, the Council requested the Wichita Falls Traffic Safety Commission
review recent changes to the solicitation ordinance involving solicitation in the roadway.
The Commission recommended that the ordinance be amended to require solicitors in
the streets and on medians to ANSI Type 2 or Type 3 safety vests; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that such recommendation is prudent and
would serve to protect the citizens of Wichita Falls.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Article III, Solicitors, of the Wichita Falls Code of Ordinances is
hereby amended by the addition of Section 26.65, which section shall hereafter read as
follows:
"Sec. 26.5. Safety Vest Required.
Every person who goes upon any street or roadway, or upon any shoulder of any
street or roadway, or upon any median of any street or roadway for the prupos of
soliciting any item of value, selling or distributing and material to any occupant of any
motor vehicle, or advertising any good or service, shall wear an ANSI 107-2204 Type 2
or Type 3 safety vest."
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
