ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, ADOPTING RULES OF USE OF THE SKATE PARK;
FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS
ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS
REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, it is desirable to ensure reasonable and safe use of the Wichita
Falls Skate Park; and
WHEREAS, review of other cities' skate park facility rules has been done and
local staff and public input received.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Wichita Falls hereby adopts the
Wichita Falls Skate Park Rules & Regulations, attached hereto and made a part of this
ordinance.
SECTION 2.. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.

Wichita Falls Skate Park Rules & Regulations
• The Skate Park is a"skate at your own risk" facility, non-supervised, and for skateboards, in-
line skates and BMX bicycles (without pegs) only.
• The Skate Park is open to patrons age 6 years and over. Youth under 10 years must be
accompanied by an adult over 17 years. Children under 6 years are not permitted in the Skate
Park except for City approved activities scheduled for that age group.
• Skateboarding, in-line skating, and bike riding in the Skate Park are hi�h risk activities.
Wearing of a helmet is REQUIRED and knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards are strongly
recommended.
• Skate Park hours are from 8:00 a.m. — 12:00 a.m. except when signage is posted for
performance of cleaning & maintenance. No usage will be permitted during this time. No
trespassing when facility is closed. Violators will be prosecuted!
• No motorized vehicles or other wheeled devices (except motorized wheel chairs) are allowed
within the Skate Park.
• Tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, and glass containers are not allowed.
• Litter is to be placed in receptacles.
• Use only structures and surfaces designed for skating...not benches, tables, bleachers, etc.
• No pets are allowed on the Skate Park surface.
• No outside obstacles are allowed.
• No skating/biking when the surface is wet, when raining, during electrical storms, or when
routine Skate Park maintenance is being performed by City staff.
• The facility will be closed to make repairs to vandalism, graffiti or any form of tagging the
facility.
• Competitive events or demonstrations require prior approval of the Parks & Recreation
Department 761-7490.

TEXAS LAW (CHAPTER 75, CIVIL PRACTICE AND REMEDIES CODE) LIMITS THE
LIABILITY OF A GOVERNMENTAL UNIT FOR DAMAGES ARISING DIRECTLY FROM
HOCKEY, SKATING, IN-L1NE SKATING, ROLLER-SKATING, SKATEBOARDING, ROLLER
BLADING, PAINTBALL USE, OR SOAP BOX DERBY USE ON PREMISES THAT THE
GOVERNMENTAL UNIT OWNS, OPERATES, OR MAINTAINS FOR THAT PURPOSE.
