ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS MAKING APPROPRIATIONS
FROM THE GENERAL FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $185,467 AND TO THE
SPECIAL REVENUE FUND FOR THE HAZARD MITIGATION GRANT
PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $556,400, TO BE REIMBURSED FROM
FEMA, TO PURCHASE AND DEMOLISH DAMAGED HOMES IN THE JULY
2007 FLOOD AREA; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT
WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS
REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls has received approval for funding under the
Hazard Mitigation Grant Program authorizing a reimbursement of up to 75% of eligible
project costs for acquisition and demolition of 38 homes that received more than fifty
percent damage from the July 2007 flood ; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to assist victims of the July 2007 flood; and
to complete clean up of the damaged properties; and
WHEREAS, the federal government offers a financial assistance program to
accomplish these tasks;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. That an amount not to exceed one hundred and eighty-five
thousand four hundred sixty seven ($185,467.00) is hereby appropriated for the
purposes of the flood mitigation grant match from the General Fund.
SECTION 2. That an amount not to exceed five hundred and fifty six thousand
four hundred dollars ($556,400.00) is hereby appropriated for the purposes of the flood
mitigation from the FEMA grant (DR-1709-023).
SECTION 3. That the Mayor and/or the City Manager are hereby authorized to
execute documents relating to this grant.
SECTION 4. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ORDIANNCE was passed was open to the public as required by law.
