ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, MAKING AN APPROPRIATION IN THE GENERAL
FUND TO COMPLETE THE FINANCIAL PLAN FOR THE CITY'S SHARE
OF THE COST TO CONSTRUCT TWO ADULT SIZE GYMNASIUMS AT
TWO ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT
THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, on June 5, 2007, the City entered into an inter-local agreement with
the Wichita Falls Independent School District for the construction and operation of an
adult sized gymnasium at the elementary school being constructed in Scotland Park
and at Jefferson School; and
WHEREAS, the City's obligation on the construction of these two gyms is the
incremental cost difference between an elementary sized gymnasium and an adult
sized gymnasiums; and
WHEREAS, the WFISD has received bids for both gymnasiums and the City's
incremental cost is expected to be $291,424 for the gym in Scotland Park and $655,770
for the gym at Jefferson Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, the City's share of these construction projects was estimated to be
$1,271,000 (to be paid for from 4B Sales Tax Funds -$500,000, City General Funds -
$500,000, and Sale of Park Land in Southern Hills Park -$271,000); and
WHERAS, the City's share of these construction costs is under estimated
amounts and the City Council desire to proceed with the construction of these two adult
sized gymnasiums.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. An appropriation of $500,000 is hereby approved in the City's
General Fund to cover costs associated with the construction of the two gymnasiums.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
