AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT $8,775 IN
GRANT FUNDS FROM THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF STATE HEALTH
SERVICES EMS - LOCAL PROJECTS GRANT PROGRAM FOR THE
PURCHASE OF NINE (9) AUTOMATIC EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS FOR
THE WICHITA FALLS FIRE DEPARTMENT; FINDING AND DETERMINING
THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, prompt defibrillation has been proven to save lives in cardiac
emergencies, and;
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Fire Department has used automatic external
defibrillators for twelve years, and;
WHEREAS, the department's current automatic external defibrillators are six
years old and in need of replacement, and;
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Fire Department has been approved for a grant to
purchase nine (9) new automatic external defibrillators, and;
WHEREAS, the department will fund the City's share ($180) from the regular line
item for EMS equipment purchases in the department's FY 2008/09 annual budget, and;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to accept grant funding from
the Texas Department of State Health Services EMS - Local Projects Grant Program for
the purchase of nine (9) automatic external defibrillators for the Wichita Falls Fire
Department.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
