RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR
$500,000 IN SMALL COMMUNITY AIR SERVICE DEVELOPMENT
GRANTS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION; FINDING
AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS
RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS
REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, commercial aviation is a vital component in a community's
transportation network; and
WHEREAS, commercial aviation contributes to a municipality's local economy by
providing cost effective transportation to both its businesses and citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation provides grant opportunities to
assist communities with increasing and improving commercial aviation activities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls desires to improve commercial aviation
opportunities for both its citizens and its businesses.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be authorized to apply for grant funding
from the Department of Transportation for a Small Community Air Service Development
program to improve commercial aviation opportunities at Wichita Falls Municipal Airport.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
