III. 404 Permit
Last month we discussed the additional cultural study needed for the permit. The
Council approved an amount not to exceed $60,000. The study will be $67,000 so that
will need to be addressed.
The Boardwalk grant is on hold pending the 404 permit.
Davis Powell reported that the public notice was sent out on December 20 to those with
property around the lake. They have 20 days to respond —January 19. If anyone makes
comments, we will have to respond. Comments by landowners need to be sent to U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers, Attn: Regulatory Office, 1645 South 101st East Avenue,
Tulsa, OK 74128-4609.
IV. Fundraising
For our March 16 event, the Two Chicks are donating their services. He met with MPEC
and Hoegger Communications. The keynote speaker will be Theodore Roosevelt IV.
Raffle tickets are still on sale.
Councilor Jesse Brown mentioned that the committee needs to be sure to participate
during this year's Texoma Gives Day in September.
Kathie Forehand-Chaddick introduced Alex Nelson, and MSU student. She has agreed
to assist with grant writing. Steve Garner mentioned he worked with Alex at our trade
show booth.
V. Other Discussion
Jack Murphy and Steve Garner met with Darren Leiker about the boat ramp and the
public area. There are rules in place about naming. Naming requires City Council
approval. Jack Murphy indicated he felt the City Council would look to this committee
for suggestions on naming. He suggested creating a table of each item for naming and
send it to City Council so they are aware of our intent and to get any input from them.
Joel Jimenez would like to be a part of a subcommittee for veteran recognition.
Alex Nelson stated the MSU Environmental Organization has 15 — 20 members who
would like to volunteer to assist the committee.
