RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, TO AWARD BID AND CONTRACT FOR THE STUDY
OF THE WICHITA RIVER WITHIN THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS TO
THE U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT
THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED WAS
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls Public Works Staff met with U.S. Geological
Survey Representatives to discuss possible changes in the Wichita River which may
have caused flooding in July 2007 and August 2008; and
WHEREAS, both parties agreed that a study of the Wichita River was necessary
to identify changes in the river channel and floodplain; and
WHEREAS, a summary of all data used in the study will be provided to the City
of Wichita Falls.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The said Study of the Wichita River within the City of Wichita Falls
to the U.S. Geological Survey is hereby approved with the City's share of the cost to be
$65,000. The City Manager is authorized to execute the contract for the City.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
