Ordinance Granting Franchises For Ambulance Service To American
Medical Response Ambulance Service Inc., And Trans Star Inc.
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls - Wichita County Public Health District received
applications from American Medical Response Ambulance Service Inc. and Transtar
Inc. for ambulance franchises, and a public hearing was held to receive comments
regarding the granting of such franchises;
WHEREAS, the applications submitted meet the requirements as set forth in
Chapter 42 of the City's Code of Ordinances regulating ambulances, and each
applicant represented that it:
(1) has its primary facility located in the territorial limits of Wichita Falls;
(2) maintains at least four ambulances currently licensed by the State of
Texas, based at its primary facility; and
(3) meets the minimum vehicle, equipment and staffing requirements for each
ambulance as established by the Texas Dep't of State Health Services;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds the public convenience and necessity
requires the operation of the ambulance services described herein, and the applicants
are fit to conduct the ambulance business and have complied with the applicable
requirements of Article II of Chapter 42 of the City's Code of Ordinances.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
1. Franchises for ambulance service within the city limits of Wichita Falls are
hereby granted to:
• American Medical Response Service Inc., and
• Transtar Inc.
2. These franchises shall expire on October 18, 2016.
