ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE SPECIAL
REVENUE FUND FOR HIV PREVENTION SERVICES IN THE AMOUNT
OF $116,000 RECEIVED FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE
HEALTH SERVICES AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE CONTRACT ACCEPTING SAME; FINDING AND
DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS
ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS
REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the Health District has been offered revenue from the Department of
State Health Services for HIV prevention services; and
WHEREAS, sexually transmitted diseases represent a significant health risk to
the citizens of our community and the surrounding area; and
WHEREAS, the Health District and the Department of State Health Services
desire to enter into a contract for HIV preventative services; and
WHEREAS, the approval of these funds could not have been anticipated prior to
the adoption of the 2008-2009 budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated in the Special Revenue Fund
$116,000 for the HIV prevention program, and the City Manager is authorized to enter
into a contract with the Department of State Health Services for the Wichita Falls-
Wichita County Health District.
SECTION 2.. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
