Ordinance Accepting A$6,000 Grant For Tobacco Compliance From
The Texas Comptroller Of Public Accounts For Fiscal Year 2009-2010
And Making An Appropriation To The Special Revenue Fund In The
Amount Of $6,000.00
WHEREAS, the Texas Comptroller's Office, in partnership with the Wichita Falls
Police Department, wishes to reduce the extent to which cigarettes and tobacco
products are sold or distributed to persons younger than 18 years of age; and,
WHEREAS, the City has been awarded a grant in the amount of $6,000 for
Tobacco Compliance by the Texas State Comptroller of Public Accounts for fiscal year
2009-2010 beginning September 1, 2009; and
WHEREAS, said funds will be used to support enforcement, retailer and judicial
education as set out in Subchapters H and N of Chapter 161 of the Texas Health &
Safety Code, and reporting grant-related activities to the Comptroller's Office.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City Manager is authorized to execute all documents necessary to accept a
$6,000 grant for tobacco compliance from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, as
described above, and said sum is hereby appropriated to the Special Revenue Fund for
tobacco compliance.
