Ordinance Of The City Council Of The City Of Wichita Falls,
Texas, Accepting $713,676.00 From The Cops Hiring Recovery
Program (CHRP) Grant To Hire Four New Police Officers For
Community Policing Purposes And Appropriating Said Funds
To The Special Revenue Fund
WHEREAS, the City has been notified that it has been awarded a grant in
the amount of $713,676.00 from the COPS Hiring Recovery Program (CHRP)
Grant for 100% funding for approved entry-level salaries and fringe benefits of
full-time officers for 36 months; and
WHEREAS, the City agrees to pay any additional costs for higher than
entry-level salaries and fringe benefits for the hired police officers; and
WHEREAS, the City agrees to retain the hired police officers for a
minimum of 12 months following the 36-month grant period; and
WHEREAS, CHRP grant funds will not be used to replace local funds that
the city otherwise would have devoted to hiring new officers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
The City of Wichita Falls hereby accepts $713,676.00 from the COPS
Hiring Recovery Program (CHRP) Grant to hire four new police officers for
community policing purposes, authorizes the City Manager to execute all
documents necessary to accept said funds, and appropriates said funds to the
Special Revenue Fund.
