RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE REVISED SECTION
8 RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM ADMINISTRATIVE PLAN AND
FAMILY SELF - SUFFICIENCY ACTION PLAN; FINDING AND
DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION
WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls operates the Section 8 Existing Housing
Assistance Programs through the Housing Division; and
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls Housing Division is designated by the
Department of Housing and Urban Development as a Public Housing Agency; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and City Council act as the Board of Directors for
the Public Housing Agency and must approve and adopt various administrative actions
taken by the agency; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors for the Public Housing Agency are given the
discretion to set a suspension period for applicants and current participants who violate
the Department of Housing and Urban Development's "One Strike Policy."
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1 . The City Council of Wichita Falls, Texas hereby approves and
adopts the revised Section 8 Administrative Plan and Family Self- Sufficiency Action
Plan for the operation of the Section 8 Existing Housing Assistance Program.
SECTION 2 . The suspension period for applicants who are indicted for drug -
related criminal activity, violent criminal activity or other patterned criminal activity and
current participants who are indicted for violent criminal activity or other patterned
criminal activity is 3 years.
SECTION 3 . It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this resolution was passed was open to the public as required by law.
