Charles Grady called the June 1, 2016 meeting of the Wichita Falls Traffic Safety
Commission to order at 1:30 p.m.
The minutes were accepted for May 2016.
The financial report for June 2016 was given. The balance is
$1,472.16. Mark Beauchamp advised he did spend $40 for gift cards to winners of
bike to school project and skate party bill had not yet been paid. A more accurate
account will be given at the August 2016 meeting.
Accident Statistics:
May 2016. Crashes: 201 Injuries: 54 Fatalities: 4 YTD

City Traffic Report
Mark Beauchamp advised the projects are basically the same as last month:
• June 7ch honoring the crossing guards at City Council meeting.
• Bike to school day at Fowler elementary school.
• Harrison and Hampstead street study. No obvious reasons or factors for
accidents were found. 3 steps were taken. Stop Sign size was increased.
Orange flag panels and Red reflective material was placed on the sign pole.
Lane narrowing may be a future project if the problem still exist.
• Phase 3 Sheppard Access street lighting project should be completed mid
June 2016.
• Bike Safe has made contact with 5 schools now including Henrietta in regard
to the program.
• Bicycle friendly community project is still in the works. Final application will
be filed August 7`h 2016.
• Phase 2 of Way Finding project will start soon.
State Traffic Report
T.J. Harrell advised:
• FM 171 from FM 890 being widened.
• FM 2650 Sisk Rd. — widen and add shoulders starting soon.
• FM 369 and Hughes Project has started
• Sinclare Rd and FM240 - Bridge replacement.
• Illumination replacement 287 at Windthorst Rd to Hwy 79 at the County line
to railroad bridge
Committee Reports:
None
Unfinished Business:
• 03-14: Three Foot Traffic Ordinance - this would make drivers of motor
vehicles give a bicycle/pedestrian a safe clearance when passing. This is a widely
adopted practice for other cities.
• 02-15: TSC Helping raise funds for electronic computer equipment for
Bike Safe/ Walk Safe School Program.
New Business:
Mark Beauchamp advised he would like to have the TSC ask the Mayor to
recognize the School Crossing Guards with a proclamation in 2016. Bill Horton
made a motion to recognize and it was seconded by Charles Grady. The motion
passed unanimously.
