Resolution Determining The Necessity For The Acquisition Of
Properties Located At 300 and 306 Scott Avenue For The Purpose Of
Building A Downtown Transit Hub And Authorizing Purchase And/Or
Condemnation
WHEREAS, the determination was made that a downtown transit hub would not
only enhance public transportation in the downtown business district but would greatly
improve operation efficiency; and,
WHEREAS, approval has been received from the Federal Transit Administration
(FTA) to proceed with the project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
1. It is necessary that the City of Wichita Falls acquire finro properties in Wichita
Falls, Wichita County, Texas to complete the Downtown Transportation Hub, and
2. The amount of just compensation to be offered to the property owners will be
the fair market value as determined by an independent certified appraiser employed by
the City to appraise each tract. In addition, further offers in accordance with the City
Manager's authority are authorized by this resolution.
3. If both parties are unable to agree on a value for the properties, then the City
Attorney is authorized to institute condemnation proceedings to obtain the properties in
the name of the City of Wichita Falls for the Downtown Transit Hub.
