ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA
FALLS, TEXAS, EXEMPTING TRAVEL TRAILERS FROM THE
PAYMENT OF AD- VALOREM TAXES; FINDING AND DETERMINING
THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED
WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, legislation was approved in the 2001 Texas Legislative Session that
enables local governments to exempt travel trailers from the payment of ad- valorem
taxes; and
WHEREAS, the definition of a travel trailer as defined in the legislation is
personal property, and
WHEREAS, the City does not currently tax personal property, and
WHEREAS, it appears that the intent of the legislation was to exempt travel
trailers from personal property taxation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Travel trailers as defined in House Bill 2076 are hereby exempt
from City property taxes.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
