ORDINANCE MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE SPECIAL
REVENUE FUND FOR ADDITIONAL GRANT REVENUE FROM THE
STATE OF TEXAS FOR THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION SELECTIVE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM
WAVE GRANT FY 2002 FOR TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT THROUGH
THE "HOLIDAY STEP WAVES" PROGRAM; FINDING AND
DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE
WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City of Wichita Falls has been invited to participate in a direct
award from the State of Texas, Department of Transportation for the purpose of
selective enforcement; and
WHEREAS, the primary emphasis will be on increasing the number of citations
issued for the non -use of occupant restraints and speeding during peak holiday periods;
and
WHEREAS, the holiday periods will span June 21, 2002 through July 18, 2002
and August 20, 2002 through September 16, 2002.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated the sum of $15,000 in the Special
Revenue Fund for the purpose of selective traffic enforcement as authorized in the
grant from the Texas Department of Transportation for the "Holiday Step Waves"
program, and the City Manager is authorized to accept same on behalf of the City of
Wichita Falls.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
