Ordinance Of The City Council Of The City Of Wichita Falls, Texas,
Granting Or Refusing A Franchise For A Taxicab Service To Claudio
Ramirez, Jr. dba Wichita Star Taxi
WHEREAS, the City has received an application from Claudio Ramirez, Jr., dba
Wichita Star Taxi, for a taxicab franchise with 15 cabs to operate within the city limits of
Wichita Falls, and a public hearing was held to receive comments regarding the
granting of such franchise; and,
WHEREAS, 110-59(c) of the Wichita Falls City Code provides:
If the city council finds that the public convenience and necessity require the operation of the number of
vehicles specified, or a lesser number, and that the applicant or owner is fit to conduct the business and that the other
requirements of this article have been complied with, it shall grant the franchise by ordinance, which shall specify the
number of taxicabs authorized. If it finds that public convenience and necessity do not require the operation of any
such automobile or that the applicant is not fit to conduct such business, it shall forthwith refuse such application,
and no franchise shall be granted to the applicant. Once granted, the franchise shall remain in effect for a period of
five years from the date granted. Upon expiration of the franchise, the franchise holder shall be required to resubmit
the application information and be subjected to the application process as prescribed in this division.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
1. The City Council finds that the public convenience and necessity
requires the operation of 15 taxicabs in a taxicab franchise for
Claudio Ramirez, Jr., said entity is fit to conduct the taxicab business for
which said entity has applied, and said entity has complied with the other
requirements of Article II of Chapter 110 of the Wichita Falls Code of
Ordinances. Accordingly, a franchise for a taxicab service within the City
of Wichita Falls is hereby granted to Claudio Ramirez, Jr. as provided for
in Chapter 110 of the Wichita Falls Code of Ordinances. The
aforementioned number of taxicabs is hereby authorized for the
aforementioned franchise. This franchise shall expire on February 17,
2011.
