Ordinance Making An Appropriation In The Amount Of $465,609
From General Fund Reserves For The City's Estimated Share Of The
Cost For Emergency Repairs At Lake Diversion Spillway
WHEREAS, the City and the Wichita County Improvement District No. 2 share in
the costs to operate and maintain Lake Diversion; and
WHEREAS, an emergency repair of the spillway is required due to a recent
collapse of the spillway pavement; and
WHEREAS, the total costs are estimated to be $931,218 for this emergency
repair project; and
WHEREAS, the City's cost for these repairs are estimated to be $465,609; and
WHEREAS, this project was not anticipated in the 2009-10 City Budget and an
appropriation from reserve funds is necessary; and
WHEREAS, reserve levels in the City's Water and Sewer Fund are nearly
depleted due to lower water sales over the last two years; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to use General Fund Reserves for this
emergency repair project, with the expectation that these funds be repaid to the General
Fund when the Water and Sewer Fund reserves return to normal levels.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
A budget appropriation in the amount of $465,609 from General Fund Reserves
is hereby approved for the City's cost share of emergency repairs at the Lake Diversion
Spillway.
