Memorial Auditorium Building
December 18, 1950
The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in called
session on the above date, at 7-30 o'clock P. M., in the Council Room of the Memorial
Auditorium Building, with the following members present:
Harold Jones Mayor
L. R. Abbott
Lloyd C. Thomas
Roy W. Parish Aldermen
J. R. Ray
R. A. Putman
R. J. Brown
J. B. Hickerson City Clerk
Frank Wood City Manager
J. Walter Friberg City Attorney
City of Wichita Falls Firemen, with Floyd Bryant acting as Spokesman,
presented a request to the Board of Aldermen for a $15.00 per month salary
increase, retroactive to December 1, 1950, with $150.00 per year clothing
allowance for all firemeny and a salary of $400.00 per month for the Fire Chief,
with an annual expense account of $800.00.
City of Wichita Falls Street Department employees, with Morman Patterson
acting as spokesman, presented a request to the Board of Aldermen for a 10 cents
per hour salary increase on hourly wages, and 15.00 per month for all employees
paid by the month, with the Department head to receive $400.00 per month, and an
expense account of $800.00, increases to be retroactive to December 1, 1950.
The City of Wichita Falls Garbage employees, with Oscar Fonville
acting as spokesman, presented a request to the Board of Aldermen for a salary
increase of 10 cents per hour on hourly wages, and $15.00 per month on all
employees paid on a monthly basis, with the department head receiving $400.00
and an annual expense account of $800.00, increases to be retroactive to Becember
1, 1950.
The City of Wichita Falls Water Department employees, with Grover
Blaylock acting as spokesman, requested action on their petition for a 20 percent
salary increase, which had been previously presented to the Board of Aldermen,
increases to be retroactive to December 1, 1950.
After numerous statements by various employees of each Department
represented had been heard, the members of the City Council agreed to meet in
a called session at 1 o'clock December 21, 1950, to further consider the
annual budget for the fiscal year 1951.
Moved by Alderman Brown that the meeting be adjourned.
Motion seconded by Alderman Ray and carried.
The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
