Min 09/11/1950 869 Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium building September 11-, 1950 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in regular session on the above date at 8:00 o'clock P. M. in the Council Room in the Memorial Auditorium Building, with the following members present: Harold Jones Mayor L. R. AbL.ott 0 Lloyd Thomas 4 Roy Parish 0 Aldermen J. R. Ray 0 R. J. Brown 0 J. B. Walter Friberg City Attorney The Minutes of the called meeting of August 15, 1950, and the called meeting of August 28, 1950, were read and approved as read. Mr. Roy Schnedler appeared before the Council on behalf of -the Wichita City Lines, Inc., and requested an extension of time to enable the Bus Coy-Ipa.ny to improve the bus service, whereupon the f ollo.ring motion was had: V Moved by Alderman Parish that if the attorneys representing the City and the Bus Company in the pending suit, a�;pear in open court and agree to the cancellation of the Bus Company franchise, the City Council grant a 90 day extension of time of operation to the Bus Co-pany to enable then to develop a satisfactory bus service. I i Motion seconded by Alderman Ray and lost by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Parish and Ray. Nays: Aldermen Thomas, Abbott and R. J. Brown. Arch Greenwood, 1927 Ardath, appeared before the Board of Aldermen, com- plaining that a mowing tractor, said to belong to the City, had been recently driven across the lawn in front of his residence. The matter was referred to City Manager Frank Mood for consideration. - - - - - - - - - - R. B. Peterson appeared before the Board of Aldermen on oehalf of the Southwestern Bell Telephone C orrpany, and presented a request for increased telephone rates in Wichita Falls. No action was taken on this matter. Moved by Alderman Thomas that a claim by J. T. Stephens, in the amount of $94.09, for alleged damages to his automoUle at 9th & Polk St., caused by a city Water Dept. barricade, be referred to the City 1=later Department and City Manager Frank Wood for settlement. i Motion seconded by Alderman Parish and carried. Moved by Alderman Parish that Mayor Harold Jones be authorized to sign an agreement with the Wichita Valley Railway Company, for and on behalf of the City of Wdichita Falls, cover-Ing a Right-of-way easement for construction of Kell Boulevard. Ward of Wichita Falls be employed to supervise the construction of the new Sewage Disposal Plant and that Joe E. Ward be paid 2 1/2 percent of .he construction cost, with a maximum payment of $16,250.00 for this service, same to be paid monthly, based on the contractor's monthly estimate. Motion seconded by Alderman Thomas and carried. Moved by Alderman Ray that the City Manager Frank Wood be authorized , to exercise an option extended by E. P. Williams on a lot located at Humphrey and Rosewood St. in East Wichita Falls, at a cost of $1,000.00, for a new Fire Station site. Motion seconded by Alderman R. J. Brown and carried. A request from the Humane Society for space on which to locate an animal shelter in the west part of town was referred to City Manager Frank Wood for consideration. Moved by Alderman Parish that Mayor Harold Jones be authorized to sign a Water Main Contract for and on behalf of the City of Wichita Falls, with C. P. McGaha in the amount of $9,923.96, said amount to be paid C. P. McGaha at rate of 33 1/3 percent of gross revenue from metered water in the Southmoor Addition and C. P. McGahW tract, Wichita Falls, Texas, with a 15 year limit of payment; Akr-xfJcxxk payment to be made June 1st each year, beginning one year after completion of facilities. Motion seconded by Alderman Ray and carried. Moved by Alderman Parish that the property belonging to the Libby F. Holland Branch Library at 700 Redwood St., be accepted by the City, repaired at a cost of approximately $3500.00, and maintained and operated by the City in conjunction with the Kemp Public Library, as detailed in the Kemp Public Library Board's report dated April 24, 1950.
