Min 02/13/1950 761 Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Building February 13., 1950 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in regular session on the above date at 7-30 o'clock P. M. in the Council Room in the Memorial Auditorium Building., with the following ., members present: Harold Jones Mayor L. R. Abbott Lloyd C. Thomas Roy W. Parish Aldenuen J. H. Ray Berry Brown B. C. Hunter Geo. T. Henderson City Clerk Frank Wood City Manager Guy McNeely City Attorney - - - - - - - - - - The Minutes of the called meeting held February 6, 1950, were read and approved as read. Moved by Aldel-aan Brown that the Board of Aldermen approve and authorize use of Memorial Auditorium, free gratis, by the local I.O.O.F. Lodge, October 22nd and 23rd,, for the purpose of accomodating their convention to be held in this City. Motion seconded by Alderman Ray and carried. - - - - - - - - - - Moved by Alde.rman Brown that the Board of Aldermen approve and authorize use of Memorial Auditorium, free gratis, by the local YMCA Armed Service Club (fonaerly U.S.O.Club) when and at such time as open dates at the Auditovium are available; the purpose of this gratuity being to pemit the YIICA Armed Service Club to raise funds to keep the Club building open to personnel at Sheppard Air Force Base. Motion seconded by Alderman Abbott and carried, A petition, bearing a large number of signatures., was presented to the Council, requesting that an ordinance be passed to close all beer taverns on the Sabbath Day. The matter was discussed by the Council, but action was deferred to the next regular meeting. Moved by Alderman Abbott that the Board of Aldem.en authorize payment of the sum of $148-75 to the colored Chamber of Commerce, as a gratuity, for the purpose of making up a deficit of the said Colored Chamber of Commerce for oiling cert * s city streets in the colored section; it being the concensus of opinion thata,ggratuity will be of valuable service to the City for street improvement; and further to direct the City Clerk to draw a warrant for the same payable out of the Street Fund. Motion seconded by Alderman Brown and carried. Glen Groves came before the Council requesting the City to purchase uniforms for police patrol. The matter was deferred for further study and consideration. 762 Moved by Alderman Ray that the Board of Aldermen approve and authorize a lease transfer of a sufficient portion of Lot 32,, Block C., Lake Kickapoo, from Guy S. Redd to F. Y. Ross, as may be necessary to construct a boat house on the above stated location. Motion seconded by Alderman Brown and carried. - - - - - - - - - - ORDINANCE NO. 1512 AN ORDINANCE CREATING A PARK BOARD FOR THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS; PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF ITS PlalBERS; SETT11iG OUT THEIR POWERS AND Y DUTIES; AND DECLAtiING AN EMERGh14CY* Moved by Alderman Ray that Ordinance No.' 1512 be approved and passed as read on its third and final reading. Motion seconded by Aldermen Hunter and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Abbotto Thomas, Parish, Ray., Brown and Hunter. Nays: None. - - - - - - - - - - Moved by Alderman Brown that the City Attorney and City Clerk be directed to prepare an ordinance to perfect such charter changes as may be deemed advisable by the Council and submit the same to the Cotncil for further consideration, in order that an election may be called at the earliest practical date to submit such changes to the electors, Motion seconded by Alderman Ray and carried.
