The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in
called session on the above date at 8:00 o'clock P. M. in the Council Room of the
Memorial Auditorium Building, with the following members present:

Lawrence M. Crow, Jr. Acting City Clerk
Mayor Harold Jones stated this meeting had been walled for the purpose
of considering matters of importance to the City of Wichita Falls.
Moved by Alderman Thomas that Lawrence M. Crow Jr. be appointed Acting
City Clerk for this meeting only.
Motion seconded by Alderman Parish and carried.
RESOLUTION NO. 37
WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of the City of Wichita Falls is applying
to the Public Housing Administration in accordance with the provisions of the
United States Housing Act of 1937, as amended, for a preliminary Loan in the amount
of $100,000.00 to cover the costs of surveys and planning in connection with the
development of approximately 500 dwelling units of low-rent public housing; and

WHEREAS, there exists in the City of Wichita Falls a need for such
low-rent public housing at rents within the means of low-income families, espec-
ially families of living or deceased veterans and servicemen, which need is not
being met by private enterprise; and
WHEREAS, such a condition constitutes a menace to the health, safety,
morals and welfare of the inhabitants of the City;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT NBgOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS:

That the Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls does hereby
approve the Application of the Housing Authority of the City of Wichita Falls to
the Public Housing Administration for a Preliminary Loan in an amount not to
exceed $100,000.00, to cover the costs of surveys and planning in connection with
the development of approximately 500 dwelling units of low-rent public housing
in the City of Wichita Falls; and does hereby declare its intent to enter here-
after into an agreement with said Housing Authority for the local cooperation by
the City in the provision of said low-rent public housing which may be required by
the Public Housing Administration pursuant to the United States Housing Act of
1937, as amended.
Moved by Alderman Parish that the above and foregoing Resolution be
adopted and passed as read.
Motion seconded by Alderman Thomas and carried by the following vote:
Teas: Aldermen Abbott, Thomas, Parish, Ray, Brown and Hunter.

Moved by Alderman Thomas that the Board of Aldermen adopt the Plat
=d Dedication of Fairway.: Addition to the City of Wichita Falls, Wichita
County, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part of the records
hereof.
Motion seconded by Alderman Brown and carried.
Mayor Harold Jones appointed M. E. Johnson for Chief of Police of
the City of Wichita Falls.
Moved by Alderman Thomas that the Board of Aldermen approve and con-
firm the appointment of Mayor Harold Jones of M. E. Johnson as Chief of Police
of the City of Wichita Falls.
Motion seconded by Alderman Brown and lost by the following vote:

Nays: Aldermen Abbott, Thomas, Parish, Ray, Brown and Hunter.

Mayor Harold Jones then appointed W. F. Booher as Chief of Police of
the City of Wichita Falls.
Moved by Alderman Parish that the Board of Aldermen approve and
confirm the appointment by Mayor Harold Jones of W. F. Booher as Chief of
Police of the City of Wichita Falls. j
Motion seconded by Alderman Abbott and lost by the following vote:

Mayor Harold Jones then appointed C. H. Hodges as Chief of Police j
of the City of Wichita Falls.
Moved by Alderman Hunter that the Board of Aldermen approve and
confirm the appointment by Mayor Harold Jones of C. H. Hodges as Chief of
Police of the City of Wichita Falls.

Mayor Harold Jones then appointed L. D. Jones as Chief of Police
of the City of Wichita Falls.
Moved by Alderman Ray that the Board of Aldermen approve and
confirm the appointment by Mayor Harold Jones of L. D. Jones as Chief of
Police of the City of Wichita Falls.
Motion seconded by Alderman Abbott and lost by the following vote:

Nays: Aldermen Abbott, Thomas, Parish, Ray, Brown and Hunter.

Mayor Harold Jones then appointed C. C. Daniel as Chief of Police
of the City of Wichita Falls.
Moved by Alderman Abbott that the Board of Aldermen approve and
confirm the appointment by Mayor Harold Jones of C. C. Daniel as Chief of
Police of the City of Wichita Falls.
Motion seconded by Alderman Brown and carried by the following vote:
Teas: Aldermen Abbott, Thomas, Parish, Ray, Brown and Hunter.
