Min 06/27/1949 661 Wichita Falls., Texas Memorial Auditorium Building June 27, 1949 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in regular session on the above date at 8:00 o'clock P. M., in the Council Room in the Memorial Auditorium Building,, with the following members present: Harold Jones Mayor L. R. Abbott Lloyd C. Thomas Roy W. Parish Aldermen J. R. Ray B. C. Hunter Geo. T. Henderson City Clerk Frank Wood City Manager Guy H. McNeely City Attorney The Minutes of the regular meeting held June 13, 1949, were read and approved as read; likewise the Kinutes of the called meetings held June 18, 1949., and June 22, 1949, respectively, were read and approved as read. - - - - - - - - - - Mr. A. Rutledge came before the Council protesting changes in the bus routing on the East Side and requested that the old schedule be resumed. By common consent of the Council, the matter was referred to the City Manager. Mr. N. A. Tutdher presented a petition, bearing signatures of appro- ximately 70 residents of Fairview Addition, protesting curtailment of service on the Hayes-Fairview bus. The matter was, by common consent, referred to the City Manager. - - - - - - - - - - The request of Mr. Martin,, representative of American Legion Pat Carrigan Post No. 120, for Lease on certain land adjacent to Lake WicUta., was discussed,, where- upon the following motion was had: Moved by Alderman Thomas that the request of Pat Carrigan Post No. 120 for a lease on certain lands at Lake Wichita be referred to Aldermen Parish and Hunter for investigation and recommendation, and report back to the Council* Motion seconded by Alderman Abbott and carried. - - - - - - - - - - Attorney Elmer Parrish, representing certain business men on Ohio and Scott Streets,, appeared before the Council., protesting the bus routing on Scott Street and requested that same be changed back to Ohio Street. Mr. Pheifer, who operates a business on Scott Street, requested that the bus stops, as are now on Scott Street, remain as is. Both proponents and opponents were heard., thereupon Mayor Harold Jones announced a Public Hearing would soon be held, at which time the manager of the Bus Coynr.)any would be asked to be present to discuss the matter �klth all interested parties. 662 Moved by Alderman Ray that the Board of Aldermen authorize the issuance of a permit to the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company to install a 10,000 gallon under-ground gasoline storage tank at the rear of their garage located at 1810 Holliday Street, providing the same is installed in accordance with the require- ments of the City Engineer. Motion seconded by Aldennan Thomas and carried. - - - - - - - - - - Moved by Alderman Ray that the Board of Aldermen appoint J. T. Richardson Clerk of the Corporation Court of the City of Wichita Falls, and L. D. Jones., K. E. Johnson, A. Yk. Davenport and A. B. Spikes as Deputy Clerks of the Corporation Court of the City of Wichita Falls. Motion seconded by Alderman Abbott and carried. - - - - - - - - - - Moved by Alderman Ray that the Board of Aldermen approve and direct the City Tax Assessor and Collector to accept the sum of $104.23 as city delinquent taxes in full covering Lot 5, Block 27, Scotland Addition, for 1948 and prior years, Motion se(wnded by Alderman Thomas and carried. Moved by Alderman Parish that the Board of Aldermen approve and direct the City Building Manager., Geo. A. Mobley, to permit use of the Municipal Audi- torium, free gratis,, to Mrs H. W. Weir., Democratic Committee Woman,, 23rd Senatorial District, retroactive as of June 10, 1949. Motion seconded by Alderman Thomas and carried. - - - - - - - - - - Moved by Alderman Parish that the Board of Aldermen authorize payment to Guy H. McNeely, City Attorney,, the sum of $16.65 to reimburse him for traveling expenses to Fort Worth in connection with Cause No. 45700-A in the 30th District Court,, styled Chris Jensen vs City of Wichita Falls, and to direct the City Clerk to draw a warrant for the same. Stringer, Lessee, under date of April 1, 1949, for grazing land located at Lake Kickapoo.. situated in Archer County, Texas, be further amended so as to eliminate that portion of Paragraph 6 which reads as follows: iiLessee agrees to pasture on said land only steers, and/or unbred heifers and/or cows.," and that the same is hereby further amended so as to permit the lessee to pasture steers, and/or bulls, bred or unbred heifers and/or cows and calves, both male and Ikemale., providing the same are free from disease; insofar as it covers and pertains to that portion of lands lying south of the water reservoir. Williams dba E-P Cabs, in lieu of his taxicab deposit fund cash on deposit with the city, and further to direct the release of the said taxicab deposit fund cash now on deposit with the city, six months from date hereof.
