Min 05/19/1949 644 Wichita Falls., Texas Memorial Auditorium Building May 19., 1949 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in calied.� session in the Council Room of the Memorial Auditorium Building at 8:otclock P, M. on the above date, with the following members present: Harold. Jones Mayo r L. R. Abbott 1,loyd C. Thomas Roy W. Parish Aldermen J. R. Ray B. C. Hunter Geo, T, Henderson City Clerk Frank Wood City Manager Guy H. McNeely City Attorney Rev. Walter Patterson, Pastor of the First Nazarene Church gave the invocation, Mayor Harold Jones stated this meeting had been called for the purpose of conducting a Public Hearing on Ordinance No. 1492, - - - - - - - - - - The Public h s held on Ordinance No. 1492 and there being no ai.grinWa opposition voiced ag nance No. 1492, the following motion was had: Moved by Alderman Hunter that the Public Hearitg on Ordinance No. 1492 be closed for this meeting, Motion seconded by Alderman Ray and carried. - - - - - - - - - - Mrs Reed., who resides on Walnut Street, stated the Street Department graded the street soon after the same had been oiled at the expense of property owners, thereby destroying the value of the street oiling, and requested the City to re-oil the said Walnut Street at its own expense, Mrs Reed also requested the City to take necessary steps for proper drainage in that vicinity, Mr. R. E. L. Smith, who resides at 706 Broad Street, requested the City to do certain street grading in the vicinity of 17th St. Fire Station so as to provide the necessary drainage in that area. Mr. Isbell appeared before the Council on behalf of the members of the Catholic Church requesting the City to remove the parkways on Holliday between 9th & 10th, and hard-surface the same., so as to provide more parking space, Moved by Alderman Parish that the Board of Aldermen approve and authorize the execution of a contract by and between C, P, McGaha and others, and the City of Wichita Falls, for an 8 inch water main in Lake Side Park Addition, upon the terms and conditions recited in the said water main contract, as read to the Council, a copy of which is filed in the office of the City Clerk for future refer,..,nce; and further to authorize and empower Mayor Harold Jones to execute the said contract for and on behalf of the City of Wichita Falls. Motion seconded by Alderman Ray and carried, 645 ORDINANCE NO. 1489 AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE CITY L-U1ITS OF THE CITY OF N'ICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, BY ANNEXING CERTAIN LAND ADJACENT TO THE PRESENT TERRITORIAL LIMITS OF ALT THE CITY OF WICHITA F "S.,TEXAS., THE SAME LYING IN A SOUTHERLY DIRECTION FROM THE PRESENT CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS., TEXAS, ALL OF WHICH LANDS ARE FULLY DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, Moved by Alderman Thomas that Ordinance No. 1489 be approved and passed as read on its second reading. Motion seconded by Alderman Hunter and carried by t he following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Abbott., Thomas., Parish, Ray and Hunter. Nays: None . Moved by Alderman Hunter that the Board of Aldermen approve and authorize the execution of a Supplemental Agreement by and between the United States of America and the City of Wichita Falls, being Supplemental Agreement No. 1 to Contract AF 41(183)-19 under date of October 1, 1948; and to authorize and empower Mayor Harold Jones to execute the said Supplemental Agreement No. 1 for and on behalf of the City of Wichita Falls. Motion seconded by Aldermr-n Abbott and carried. - - - - - - - - - - The request of J. R. Farabee, Post Commander of the Thomas Fowler Legion Post No. 169., for a ten year lease on a certain parcel of land out of J. A. Scott Survey No. 5., Abstract No. 297, Wichita� County, located on the shore Line of Lake Wichita., was referred to the City Attorney to prepare a Lease Agreement and submit the same to the Council for further o-onsideration, - - - - - - - - - - Moved by Alderman Thomas that the meeting be adjourned.
