The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas.. met in
called session on the above date at 5:00 otclock P. M. in the Council Room of
the Memorial Auditor-lum Building., with the following members present:
Harold Jones Mayor
L. R. Abbott
Lloyd C. Thomas
Roy W. Parish Aldermen
J. R. Ray
John C. Coffey
B. C. Hunter
G. D. Fairtrace City Manager
Guy H. McNeely City Attorney
Geo. T. Henderson City Clerk
The invocation was given by Capt. Anderson of the Salvation Army.
Mayor Harold Jones stated this meeting had been called for the purpose
of determining whether or not the Wichita Transit Company should be granted a
raise in bus fare.
Mr. Isbell and Frank Walton each expressed their views to the effect
that, in their opinion, the Wichita Transit Company should be granted a raise
in bus fares in order to keep the busses rolling.

Moved by Aldeman Coffey that the franchise and rate structure of
the Wichita Transit Company remain the same gs recited in the present franchise
and no rate increase be allowed.
Motion seconded by Aldeman Ray and carried.

Moved by Alderman Parish that Mr. Frank Wood be appointed City Manager
at a salary of $9000.00 per year.
Motion seconded by Alderman Ray and carried by the following vote:
Yeas: Aldermen Abbott., Thomas,, Parish,, Ray, Coffey and Hunter.
Nays: None.
Mr. Hylton., local manager Wichita Transit Company,, e xpressed his
thanks and appreciation to the Council for their patience in laboring with the
controversy over the bus situation. Mr. Hylton also stated that in view of
the apparent inevitability of a strike by the bus drivers, the Transit Co,
busses would be available to the bus drivers, providing they chose to operate
on the same old wage scale,

Moved by Alderman Ray that the Board of Aldermen authorize the execu-
tion of a contract by and between the City of Wichita Falls and the Water Tank
Service Company for cleaning and painting of the water tank located on Ninth
Street, for consideration of $1944.00, and other stipulations as recited in
the contract as read to the Council, and further to authorize and empower Mayor
Harold Jones to execute the said contract for and on behalf of the City of
Wichita Falls.
Motion seconded by Alderman Ray and carried.

Gentlemen*
On �ehalf of the Senior Class of Hardin College, I wish to solicit
your assistance in furthering our class project.
Inasmuch as several civic groups in this city have undertaken various
projects to beautify and improve our city, it is our desire to make Hardin
College Campus more attractive. The Lions Club has donated one hundred
trees to this end and the Ex-Students Association is underwriting the installa-
tion of a sprinkler system,
Our project is to secure the installation of new Mercury-Vapor lights
at several strategic places about.the campus. Since Hardin is a sednic and
cultural asset to Wichita Falls 2 we feel that the city council will be inter-
ested in this project, and lend us valuable assistance in securing proper
lighting for the campus.
In order to accomplish this project, the senior class will need your
help, and as progressive citizens., we believe that you will be willing to
help us.
Will you please consider our request at your next meeting, and reply
promptly as to your decision? We will be glad to furnish any further infor-
mation you may desire.

was read to the Council., whereupon the following motion was had:
Moved by Alderman Hunter that the request of the Senior Class of
Hardin College as above outlined be taken under further advisement for cost
study, etc, of the project,
Motion seconded by Alderman Parish and carried,

Moved by Alderman Parish that Mayor Harold Jones request the resigna-
tion of the present Chief of Police,
Klotion seconded by Alderman Abbott and carried by the following vote:
Yeas: Aldermen Abbott, Thomas., Parish., Ray., Coffey and Hunter.
