The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in
called session on the above date at 7-30 o'clock ?.M. in the Council Room of the
Memorial Auditorium Building., with the following members present:
Harold Jones Mayor
Edward G. Kadane
E. J. Wininger Aldermen
John C. Coffey
B. C. Hunter
D. Fairtrace City Manager
Kearby Peery City Attorney
Geo. T. Henderson City Clerk
A quorum being present,, Mayor Harold Jones stated this meeting had
been called for the purpose, among other things, of holi�i Public hearing on
Ordinance No. 1484.

A public hearing was held on Ordinance No. 1484, at which time
Jack Ballard presented a petit4 on bearing approximately .115 sIgnatures re-
questing that the raise in bus fares not be&ranted until proven beyond doubt
that such raise is necessary. Both proponents and opponents were given an
opportunity to express their views.
Moved by Alderman Hunter that the Public hearing on Ordinance No.
1484 be closed.
Motion seconded by Alderman Coffey and carried.

ALI OhDINANCE CLOSING AND ABANDONING FOIL PUBLIC USE THE ALLEY
THROUGh BLOCK 107A. HIGHLA11D ADDITION TO THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS,
TLXAS,, LYING BEWTEN LOTS 2 AND 3 AND LOTS 4 AND 5, BEING THAT PORTION
OF SAID 20 FOOT ALLbY BEGINNILG AT THE EAST PhOPERTY LINE OF POLK STREET,
ANI'D EXIT11DING 100 FEET EAST THL-2dFROMI; hESiJiVING UTILITY hIGHTS; AND
DECLARING AN IZIERGENCY.
Moved by Alderman Wininger that Ordinance No. 1486 be approved
and passed as read on its second reading.
Motion seccnded by Alderman Kadane and carried by the following
vote:
Yeas: Aldermen Kadane, Wininger, Coffey and Hunter.
Nays: None.

Moved by Alderman Coffey that the Board of Aldermen authorine the
issuance of a permit tc the Gulf Oil Products Co. to replace turo-3000 gallon
underground gasoline storage tanks at 1209 Scott Street, providing the sune
are installed under the direction of the City Engineer.
Motion seconded by Alderman Kadane and carried.

RESOLUTION NO. 33
IATHEhEAS, it has come to the attention of the City Council of the
City of Wichita Falls, Texas, that an emergency exists idth reference to the
housing of families of permanent personnel of Sheppard Air Force Base.,
Wichita Falls? Texas, in that a large number of said base personnel have no
hou3ing facilities to care for their families, and that the families of other
personnel now have inadequate housing facilities;
NOW., ThLHEFfiRE, BE IT f&�SOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WIC?dTA FAUS,, that the Secretary for Air, the hon. W. Stuart S�mdngton,
be advised of such uituation and that he be requested to apply funds now
belonging to his department to the construction and maintenance of adequate
housing units on Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas, and that
a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Honorable Secretary.

HESOLbTION NO. 34
WHEHLAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City Council
of the City of Wichita Falls., Texas, that there are a large number of permanent
personnel stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base adjacent to the City of Vichita
Falls, Texas, who do not have adequate living quarters for their families, and,
WhEhz,A3, it has been brouj�ht to the attention of the City Council
that at this time there is not available in the City of Wichita Falls sufficient
housing to provide adequate quarters for the Sheppard Air Force Base permanent
personnel, and as a result thereof, an emergency exists;

WIChITA FALLS, that the United States Congress be advised of the urgent necessity
of an appropriation to the Army Air Force to facilitate the construction of
dwelling units on Sheppard Air Force Base, and that a copy of this resolution
be forwarded to the hon. Tom Connally and the Hon. Lyndon Johnson, United
States Senators from the State of Texas, and the hon. Ed Gossett, United States
Representative from the l3th Congressional District.
Moved by Alderman Wininger that the above and foreEoing Resolution
be adopted -and passed as read.
Motion seconded by Alderman Coffey and carried by the following
vote:
Yeas: Aldermen Kadane, Wininger, Coffey and Hunter.
Nays: None.
