Honorable Harold Jones, Alayor

Wichita Falls, Texas
City Council
City of Wichita Falls
Wichita Falls, Texas f
Gentlemen:
It has come to our attention that Hamp's Taxi Company which operates under a
permit here in the C ty of ;vici-d-to Falls, Texas, is now operating cabs ovined
by the operators instead of the Hai-ip's Taxi Company and we Irish to submit this
matter for your consideration.
E
As you know Checker Cab Company has up $3,500.00 in cash in the Taxicab Fund
for loss or damage sustained by passengers or others as a result of negligence }
of the drivers of ta:d cabs. The Yellow Cab Company has up the sum of °4,OOC.00
for the sane purpose. 11e also understand that each of the respectilre drivers
of the Hamp's Taxi pays for the privilege of operating; their individual vehicles
the sum of $4.00 per day to the Hamp's Taxicab Company.

If our information be eerrect that Hamp's is operating individually owned cabs,
that is cabs owned by the respective drivers, thon and in that event, we do not
feel that our respective zums in the fund that you have on deposit with the City
Clerk should be held responsible for the negligence of said drivers and respect-
fully request that the Council pass ordinances placing each fund on deposit for
damages 2n1Z arising; out of the riej;ligence of each cab company who has said funds
on deposit with the City Clerk and riot subject such fund to damae or loss of
company now operating.
We would also like to call the Council's attention to the fact that some of the
cab comuanies operating, on the streets have fault,-- and unsafe automobiles and
of course, o::r posit.icn is that each of said automobiles should be in good
operatinE, condition for the safety of tha public and we feel that someone should
make an inve:-tio-ati.on cI such defective equipment and eliminate it until same is
repaired and in Cood order because under the present terms of the fund such fund
is liable for an;; damage or collision whether same be new equipment, of defective
equipment.
Respectfully submitted,
Is/ J. H. York
Checker Cab Company
Is/ Glen W. Krottinger
Yellow Cab Company
