Lyon, representative of local Fire Department, presented a petition to the Council, bearin5 51 signatures of members of the Fire Department, r requesting the Council to increase Monthly salaries 330.00 per month, base pay, for employees of the Fire Department. The petition was received and to;-iporarily deferred for further study and advisement. Woody Featherston ca�,ie before th-. C:);ncil reGuasting the City to widen Giddings Street six or eight feet and pave the sa;ae in the 2000 and 2100 blocks so as to render that portion of Giddings Street more accessible to occupants of certain dwellings I-Ir. Featherston and. associates proposes to construct in that area. No action was taken, but Mr. Featherston was advised the ;.iatt;er roul_1 be taken under consideration. Mr. Morgan, who resides at, 1808 Harrison, again carte before the Council re_fuesting the Board Di Aldermen to recondition and re-oil Avenue I between Harrison and Giddin; s Streets, due to certain street gradi.nc-, etc. previously done at this locat'_on as alleged by Ar. Morgan. The :natter was discus ,ed by the Council, whereupon the fol1ozr1.ng motion was had: Moved by Alderman Win nger that he Board of Aldermen authorize the expenditure of y 75.OU towards the re-oiling of Avenue I, betwe n Harrison and ,siddin�73 Stre,: ts, and to direct the City Clerk to draw a warrant for the same upon completion of the project and the presentation of properly OK.'d bill. Motion seconded by Alderman Hunter and carried. A Public Hearing was held on the application of the Checker Cab Co. for pernit to operate additional taxica'os upon the streets of the City of Wichita Falls, and likewise ttia application of the Yellow Cab Co. to operate additional taxicabs on the streets of Wic'aita Fails, at which time Mr. N. E. Hylton, loca-1 representative of the A & A Taxi Co. and the Safeway Cab Co. pro- tested the issuance of additional taxicab per-, its. Both proponents and opponents were heard, thereupon the following motion was had: 530 Moved by Alderman WininL;,er that the public hearings on the applica- tions of the Checker Cab Co. and the Yellow Cab Co. be closed. Motion seconded by Alderman kadane and carried. Moved by Alderman ray that the Board of Aldermen authorize the issuance of a Certificate of Public necessity and Convenience to the Checker Cab Company for the purpose of operating six (6) additional taxicabs upon the streets of the City of Wichita Falls, when acid at such ti:ne as the terms and conditions governing the issuance of such Certificates have been fully complied with. Moved bYT Alderman Hunt-�'that. the 3oard of Aldermen authorize the issuance of a Certificate of Public Necessity and Convenience to the Yellow Cab Co. for the purpose of operating eiz Pub (S) additional Taxicabs upon the streets of the City of Wichita Falls, when and at such time as the terms and conditions governing; issuance of such Certificate have been fully complied with. Moved by Alderman Wininger that t;he Board of Aldermen proceed to enter into the preliminaries of calling an election for the purpose of issuing $500,000 Sewer Revenue bonds, $250,000 YTateniorks Improvement Extension Bonds, and $250,000 Sanitary'Sewer* xtensibn bonds. Graves to purchase a certain tract, of land, belonging to the City and lying along the shore line of Lake iichita, was rejected by com-.ion consent of the Council for the reason that the Board of Aldermen does not def�m it advisable to di3po3e t o a; water reservoir. Moved by Alderman Kadane that the Board of Aldermen authorize and direct the City Tax Collector to accept the sum of $6,172.88 for delinquent taxes against the M. K. & T. Hy Co., for the year 1947, waiving all penalty and interest charges. Motion seconded by Alderman Wininger and carried by the following vote: Yeas: Aldermen Kadane, Wininger and Hay. Nays: Aldermen Coffey and Hunter. Moved by Alderman Wininger that the meeting be adjourned. Motion seconded by Alderman Hay and carried. The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
