Min 03/22/1948 471 i WichitaFalls, Texas Memorial Auditorium Building March 22, 1948 I The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in regular session on the above date at 7-30 o'clock P.M. in the Council Room in the Memorial Auditorium, with the following members present: W. B. Hamilton, Mayor C. A. Spragins K. C. Spell E. J. Wininger Aldermen Melvin B. Evans �( J. M. Baber A. Jay Eastham G. D. Fairtrace, City Manager T. A. Hicks, City Attorney Geo. T. Henderson, City Clerk The Minutes of the regular meeting held March 8, 1948, were read and approved as read. Moved by Alderman Spragins that permission be granted to the South- western Glass & Faint Co_-TVany to cut an opening through the fire wall on a 50 foot front building located at 905 Scott Street. Motion seconded by Alderman Baber and carried. Moved by Alderman Baber that permission be granted to Sears Roebuck & Company to remove the fire wall between two buildings now occupied by them at 712-722 Ninth Street. Motion seconded blr Alderman Eastham and carried. Moved by Alderman Evans that a permit be granted to the Sacred Heart Church to construct and erect the proposed building at 1509 Ninth Street in line with the front line of the Sacred Heart Church located at 1505 Ninth St. Motion seconded by Alderman Spell and carried. Moved by Alderman Eastham that permission be granted to the South- western Glass & taint Co. to install an air conditioner on the fire wall at their place of business located at 905 Scott Street. Motion seconded by Alderman Spell and carried. Moved by AldermanSpragins that the Board of Aldermen approve and authorize the leasing of a certain tract of land, now owned by the City of Wichita Falls and located in the vicinity of Fifth and Baylor Street, to Jack Martin, for a period of ten (10) years, for a consideration of $100.00 per year rental, for the purpose of erecting a building to house the State Highway Patrol; I and to authorize and empower Mayor W. B. Hamilton to execute a lease contract for the same for and on behalf of the City. Motion seconded by Alderman Eastham and carried. 472 Moved by Alderman Spell that the Board of Aldermen approve and authorize payment to the Wichita General Hospital the sum of $3476.67 for charity patients for the month of February, upon like payment by Wichita County. Motion seconded by Alderman Wininger and carried. Moved by Alderman Wininger that the Board of Aldermen approve and f authorize payment to Hare & Hare of Kansas City, the sum of $4000.00, being the f second installment due on a certain contract previously entered into by and between the City and Hare & Hare for the preparation of a zoning map, etc. of the City; and to direct the City Clerk to draw a warrant for the same. Motion seconded by AldemanEvans and carried. Moved by Alderman Eastham that the Board of Aldermen authorize the issuance of a permit to the Cruise Tire Company to erect a, sign, between the curb and the sidewalk at their place of business located at 200 East Scott Street, for a period of one year, provided the same is erected under the supervision of the City Engineer. Motion seconded by Alderman Wininger and carried. Moved by Alderman Spell that the Board of Aldermen authorize the issuance of a permit to Joe Blackshear Company to erect a sign between the curb and sidewalk, at their place of business located at 703 Lamar Street, for a period of one year,providing the same is erected under the supervision of the City Engineer. Motion seconded by Alderman Wininger and carried. Moved by AldermanSpell that the meeting be adjourned. Motion seconded by Alderman Evans and carried. The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
