Min 11/03/1947 i 4ti� Wichita Falls, Texas Me-morial Auditorium Building November 3, 1947 The Board of Aldermen of the City* of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in called session on the above date at 1-30 o'clock P.M. in the Council Room in the Memorial Auditorium, with the fol3.owing members present: W. B. Hamilton, Mayor C. A. Spragi.ns K. C. Spell_ E. J. Wininger Aldermen Melvin B. Evans J. M. Baber A. Jay Eastham G. D. Fairtrace, City Manafer T. A. Hicks, City Attorney Kearby Peery, Assistant City Attorney Geo. T. Henderson, City Clerk Mayor W. B. Hamilton stated this meeting had been called for the purpose of conducting an informal hearing, to determine, as near as possible, the facts, either pro or con, concerning a statement made through the press by Mr. W. E. McDonald, former night captain of the Police Department, that he had recently been discharged from the Department because of his efforts to suppress gambling and other similar law violations in the City; and further that it is the desire of the Council tiiat Mr. McDonald be given an opportunity to state in his own words such facts as were alleged by him to be true. The meeting was transferred to the Main Auditoritul in the Memorial Auditorium building for the reason that the Council Room was inadequate to accomodate the crowd assembled to witness the hearing. Due to the fact that the Main Auditorium had been previously engaged for an everiing performance, the hearing, by common consent of the Council, was recessed at 5-30 o'clock P.M. to 1-30 o'clock P.I . Tuesday, November 4, 1947. The Council reassembled at 1-30 o'clock P.M. NOVeTAber 4, 1947, in the Plain Auditorium in the Memorial Auditorium Building to resume the public hearing, after having been duly recessed on the previous day. W. L. Griffin, Court Reporter for the 30th District Court of Wichita County, was employed by the City to record the public hearing and was present throughout the entire procedure, and a copy of this neport' shall be filed in the office of the 'City Clerk fo'r future reference. The public hearing was concluded about 3 o'clock P.M. and a motion was in order to adjourn. Moved by Alderman Spragins that the meeting be adjourned. Motion seconded by Alderman. Evans and carried.
