Memorial Auditorium Building
October 30, 1947
The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in
called session on the above date at 4:00 o'clock P.M. in the Council Room
in the Memorial Auditorium, with the following members present:
W. B. Hamilton, Mayor
C. A. Spragins
K. C. Spell
E. J. Wininger Aldermen
Melvin B. Evans
J. M. Baber
A. Jay Eastham
G. D. Fairtrace, City Manager
Geo. T. Henderson, City Clerk
Mayor W. B. Hamilton stated this meeting had been called for the purpose
of considering various matters of importance to the City.
Moved by Alderman Spell that the Board of Aldermen accept with regret
the resignation of Geo. Verity as Judge of the Corporation Court, effective
November 1, 1947, and that Jack A. Gant be appointed as Judge of the Corporation
Court, effective the same date.
Motion seconded by Alderman Evans and carried.
Moved by Alderman Eastham that the Board of Aldermen hold a Public
Hearing at the next regular meeting to be held November 10, 1947, for the
purpose of considering the proposed budget for the fiscal year beginning October
1, 1947, and ending September 30, 1948.
Motion seconded by Alderman Wininger and carried.

AN ORDINANCE F,IAKING APPROPRIATION FOP. SUPPORT OF THE CITY GOVEP.NMENT
FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBEF 1, 1947, AND ENDING SEPTE'MBLR 30, 1948.
. Moved by Alderman Wininger that Ordinance No. 1445 be approved and
passed as read on its first reading.
Motion seconded by Alderman Evans and carried by the following vote:
Yeas: Aldermen Spragins, Spell, Wininger, Evans, Baber and Eastham.
Nays: None.
ORDINANCE NO. 1446
AN ORDINAACE LEVYING, ASSESSING AND FIXING TW, TAX RATE FOR THE USE
AND SUPPORT OF THE MUNICIPAL GCVIMTMENT OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FfilT S, Tz=S,
AND PROVIDING FOR THE INTLRES T AND SINKING FUND FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1947-48,
AND APPORTICNING EACH LEVY FOR T1E, SPECIFIC PUiTOSE, AND .PROVIDING FOR
COLLECTION OF ALL ANNUAL OCCUPATION TAXES PROVIDED BY STATE LAW.

passed as read on its first reading.
Motion seconded by Alderman Evans and carried by the following vote:

ORDINANCE NO. 1444
AN ORDINANCE, LEVYING A STREET RENTAL CHARGE OF 2% OF THE GROSS
RECEIPTS PER ANR:UM FOR TRANSPORTING PASSENGi� S BY TAXICAB WITHIN THE CITY OF
r'JICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, TO BE PAID BY PI:1tSONS, TRUSTEES, ASSOCIATIONS AND CORPORA-
TIONS FOR THE OPERATION OF EACH TAXICAB TitANSPORTING PASSENG11tS FOR HIRE, PRE-
SCRIBING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF.
Moved by Alderman Eastham that Ordinance No. 1444 be approved and
passed on its third and final reading.

Moved by Alderman Wininger that the Board of Aldermen approve for
payment to the Wichita General Hospital the sum of 52301.00 for charity- patients
for the month of September up6n like payment, by Wichita County.
Motion seconded by Alderman Spell and carried.
Moved by Alderman Spell that a permit be granted to Sears Roebuck
& Co. to install an air-conditioner on top of their building located at 710-
9th Street, providing that same is installed under the direction and supervi-
sion of the City Engineer.
Motion seconded by Alderman Evans and carried.
Moved by Alderman Eastham that C. W. Jensen; Chief of Pclice, be given
a vote of confidence by the entire City Council.
Motion seconded by Alderman Spragins and carried by the following vote:
Yeas: Aldermen Spragins, Spell, Wininger, Evans, Baber and Eastham.
Nays: None.
Moved by Alderman Spragins that the meeting be adjourned.
Motion seconded by Alderman Eastham and carried.
The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
