Min 07/25/1947 402 Wichita Falls, Texas Memorial Auditorium July 25, 1947 The Board of Aldermen of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, met in called session on the above date at 3:00 o'clock P.M. in the Council Room in the Memorial Auditorium, with the following members present: W. B. Hamilton, Mayor C. A. Spragins K. C. Spell E. J. Wininger Aldermen Melvin B. Evans J. M. Baber A. Jay Eastham G. D. Fairtrace, City Manager T. A. Hicks, City Attorney Geo. T. Henderson, City Clerk Moved by Alderman Wininger that the Board of Aldermen approve and authorize a Lease Agreement by and between the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, and the United States of America, acting by and through the War Assets Admin- istration, for the leasing of certain property located in the area known as Sheppard Field, Wichita County, Texas, to-wit: Buildings Nos. T-50, T-51, T-522 T-53, and T-54; and to authorize Mayor W. B. Hamilton to execute a lease for and on behalf of the City of WichitaFalls, and to further authorize the payment of the sum of $277.12 as rental for said lease agreement from June 25, 1947, to July 20, 1947; and further to authorize and direct the City Clerk to draw a warrant for the same. Motion seconded by Alderman Evans and carried. RESOLUTION NO. 8 THAT WHEREAS, W. B. Hamilton, Mayor of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, has for several months carried on negotiations with various agencies of the United States Govemnent, including War Assets Administration, for the purpose of acquiring certain airport facilities located at Sheppard Field in Wichita Falls, Texas, which have been declared surplus by the proper Government agencies, and WHEREAS, the War Assets Administration has submitted to the city of Wichita Falls the necessary blanks for the city to file its application with the War Assets Administration to acquire certain lands, runways and airport facilities to be used in the operation of Kell Airport in the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, and WHEREAS, it is necessary that an official of the City of Wichita Falls be authorized to execute said application on behalf of said City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, AS FOLLOWS: That W. B. Hamilton, Mayor of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, be, and he is, hereby authorized and directed to execute the application submitted to said city by the War Assets Administration for the purpose of acquiring certain airport facilities for the city of Wichita Falls, Texas, as provided in said application, and further authorize said Mayor to accept delivery of all formal instruments of transfer and agree that the transferee shall be bound by all of the reservations, restrictions and conditions of transfer set forth in said application, said facilities to be acquired from the War Assets Administration without cost to the city. Nays: Alderman Baber. Moved by Alderman Spragins that the City Manager be authorized and directed to enter into negotiations for the installation of the proposed new lighting system on Scott Street. Motion seconded by Alderman Evans and carried. Moved by Alderman Wininger that the City Manager, and he is hereby authorized and directed, to enter into negotiations with the Texas Electric Service Company for the leasing of its spray pond located adjacent to the Texas Electric Service Company generator plant. Motion seconded by Alderman Eastham and carried. Moved by Alderman Evans that the Board of Aldermen grant permission to the Assembly of God church to erect a tent on the north end of city-ownad property located at 6th & Broad Street, for the purpose of conducting religious services. Motion seconded by Alderman Spell and carried. Moved by Alderman Evans that the meeting be adjourned. Motion seconded by Alderman Eastham and carried. The Board of Aldermen then adjourned.
